welcome prof. Coelho, Mariam and Denisa!

Prof. R. Coelho is a civil engineer with expertise in Complexity-based Robust Design of Lightweight Structures.  He will be working with us to improve the robustness of polyester rope suspension bridges, the core of Ted Segal’s PhD research.

Mariam Wahed, a PU senior, researches bio-mimetic structural systems for tall buildings developed used topology optimization.  Mariam is also interested in continuing our research on Pier Luigi Nervi’s Stadia (in colloboration with the School of Architecture, University of Bologna, Italy).

Finally Denisa Buzatu, a PU iunior, investigates the potential of sun shading models for specific buildings on campus.  Her research is funded by the Andlinger Center for Energy and Environment.
