We have the distinct pleasure of inviting Yousef Anastas, final year Master student from Ecole des Ponts, to joining our research group Form Finding Lab as a Visiting Research Student Collaborator. Yousef has been trained as an architect and civil engineer and his design and construction skills will complement our research, in particular in the domain of elastic biomimetic adaptive structures for energy‐efficient architecture. Youssef will be screening elastic mechanisms, found in nature, for their potential as concept generators for structural and climate filter skins. To identify the relevant components, he will be building small and medium scale models (using the laser cutter and 3D printer). To upscale these systems to an architectural scale, he will be carrying out structural and thermal analysis to fully understand their behavior.
