Julian Lienhard’s talk will give general insight into form-finding and structural analysis of bending-active structures. Several case studies will underline the potential of active-bending in generating new structural forms; ranging from complex curved geometries for static structures, to shape adaptation possibilities, and finally elastic kinetics, which are entirely based on reversible deformation. ¬†Biomimetics and several modelling techniques will be presented as an approach to form-finding¬†as well as a source of inspiration for basic principles.
