AMSTERDAM ARCHITECTURE PRIZE 2012: Dutch Maritime Museum

On May 14th the Amsterdam Architecture Prize was awarded to the architects and commissioners of the Scheepvaartmuseum. During an exciting event the golden medals were awarded to Liesbeth van der Pol (Dok architecten), Laurent Ney (Ney & Partners), Kees Doornenbal (Rappange & Partners Architecten BV) en Ric van Wijk (vice-director of the Scheepvaartmuseum, on behalf of the Rijksgebouwendienst) to a project that according to the jury stands out above  all others.  The jury  valued the conceptual choices, the attention paid to the historical context and the detail of refinement and craftmanship in the design. Prof. Adriaenssens collaborated with Prof. Chris Williams, University of Bath on the Form Finding of the glass/steel coupola of the interior courtyard.
